Where to stay is a good question, how many in your party, and what sort of budget you have. I will try to cover all types of accomodation here, from the cheapest to the lavishly expensive. I personally do not like high rise hotels, and when holidaying with my wife and children, we look for reasonable priced resorts. I have been to Hua Hin with my family befor and we stayed at the central village resort, a beautiful place nestled amongst tropical trees and right on the beach. The chalets are typical Thai, and I can remember sitting on the verandah having a cold beer and watching the monkeys jump from tree to tree.An added bonus to staying there was that we could use the facilities offered by the Sofitel Hotel next door. Included in our package was breakfast, and believe me what a spread, my god sometimes I could hardly walk after breakfast. There are plenty of hotels around, ranging from three to five star, and from around $50 upwards, most include breakfast, and most are very clean, with the staff very helpfull. I find that a three star hotel, in Hua Hin feels like a four star. Last time I went to Hua Hin, I went alone, and decided to try something different. Along the beach front there are a lot of jetties which reach out over the ocean, well there is one on the end that has little terraced wooden cabins all along the length of the jetty. I decided to stay in one of those for a few days. They are very basic believe me, there is a bed, a small toilet and shower and a fan on the wall. But out of the window was the ocean, and the sound of the waves would help me sleep away my busy days. I haggled again and paid $10 a night, and really enjoyed it.Sorry to say for that price there is no air con and no hot water. There are a lot of houses that can be rented, some hosted and some with freedom to come and go as you please.I cannot comment on these as i have never stayed in any, but I am sure they would be at a very good standard. To sum up there are many various types of accomodation in Hua Hin, to suit all types of travellers and all types of budgets. I just would not recommend staying at the prison!!!!.
